When I play, and when I teach, I pay a lot of attention to music theory, composition and songwriting. I understand a lot of guitar players are interested in arpeggios, sweeps, speed etc... All these things are great but are only a small part of a virtuoso's vocabulary. I could definitely help you with these techniques, but more importantly, knowing when and how to apply all of that is something I work on with my students. Writing a song that makes sense melody, harmony and structure wise is another topic that is often overlooked and probably one of the most important ones. I also see a lot of confusion as far as how to apply modes to one's playing. It takes a lot more than a “fast shredder” to be a good guitar player.
