Bottom Right Rig
We'll start from the bottom right side which is the unit pretty much everything else is plugged into. The Sound Sculpture's Switchblade is a high end switcher that offers 16 inputs and 16 outputs and can instantly go between presets and change complete rigs in a split second. (go to the "Links" section on this website to get Ethan's thoughts about Sound Sculpture)
Above the switchblade we have the Roland GR-50 guitar synth. This unit is another one Ethan had for quite a while. Sometimes being used to add some textures to some recordings.
Tube Works MosValve: This is the poweramp of this rig, It is a solid state amp which makes it stable. There's no need to worry about putting the amp on stand-by before and after a playing sessions so it's perfect for practicing too.

JMP&TSR
Marshall JMP-1 (Gold): This is one of Ethan's favorite preamps especially for lead. The Marshall JMP-1 gives you a very fat and smooth mid range tone. This unit can be heard on the tunes Blast Off, Ancient Land and Affliction on Out of Oblivion.
Digitech TSR-24: This is the effects unit of the rig. The TSR-24 is a very complicated unit , Not so user friendly although in return you get endless possibilities of routing effects in all kinds of placements. A truly incredible unit. The TSR-24 is one of Digitech's only units without a preamp and just effects. This one is also in Ethan's current live rig.

Rockman
Jackson JX-3 (Red & Yellow): This is a rare preamp made by Jackson. This unit offers a fat clean tone and nice overdrive tones. Could be used in high gain settings too although Ethan prefers to use this preamp in less heavier contexts.
Rockman Sustainor (Blue): Ethan uses this preamp mainly for its clean tone and could be heard on many of the tracks on Out of Oblivion. You can hear the tone of this preamp very clearly on the chords in "Last Hope"
|
Top Right Rig
Rockman EQ (Bottom right): A 12 bend equalizer that is sometimes being used on certain presets for more tonal possibilities.
BBE 422A (Black unit in the middle): This unit is used to either boost/cut lows or highs depending upon volume and the selection of preamp.
Rockman Compressor (Top left side of right rig): This is a somewhat newer addition to this rig and hasn't yet found too much of a use. Ethan has a Compressor fetish so one day it will probably be doing some mileage.
Rockman Stereo Chorus (Top right): This is Ethan's favorite analog chorus. This unit gives a very wide stereo image and has that sweet analog sound to it.
|
Top Left Rig
ISP Decimator ProRackG (Top unit): The Decimator is a noise reduction unit; All the preamps go through it. This unit has two channels. The guitar can go through the first channel and the rig can go through the second. Without this amazing piece of gear everything would have been extremely noisy. Ethan has a version of the Decimator in all his rigs and he also endorses this company.
(Refer to the "Links" section of this website to get Ethan's thoughts on ISP)
Rockman XPR (Blue unit 2nd from top): One of Ethan's favorite preamps. This one can be heard on Last Hope, Night City and some parts of The Hit Man on Out of Oblivion.
|
Top Left Rig + Right Rig
ADA MP-1 (3rd from top): The Mp-1 is a legendary preamp used by many respected players. Ethan loves this preamp and also uses it for his live tone. Brilliant clean tone and a very angry distortion channel. Perfect for Metal. If ADA was still in business Ethan would have definitely be endorsing them right now. Can be heard on Downward Spiral, Blade Runner, In a SentiMetal Mood and Last Hope (for lead clean tone).
ADA MP-1 moded by voodoo labs (bottom): Another MP-1 just because its cool and we all love it so much.
|
Left Rig
ADA MicroCab II (Unit with gray buttons): A direct recording unit for preamps and poweramps. Rarely used, This unit will soon be listed on ebay. Maybe you'll have better luck with it than Ethan had!
ADA MP-2 (2nd from the bottom): The MP-2 is a preamp with lots and lots of features. Ethan uses it mostly for heavier tones from time to time.
|
Bottom Left Rig
ADA Microcube (bottom): This is a small one rack space tube poweramp. Ethan is planning on using this unit in the future in a mini live rig to avoid heavy racks on some nights.
|
All Access Pedal
This whole rig is controlled by the Rocktron All Access MIDI pedal and the Rocktron HEX continuous controller.
|
LA 610s
Universal Audio LA-610 & LA-610 (MK-II): The newest addition to Monster Tone Studios. The LA-610 is an all tube mic preamp/compressor. Ethan's next record will surely sound even bigger, better and meaner!
